ok, so I just witnessed 'mommy attack mode' first hand. I cannot stand spiders. They do not belong indoors. So if I find one inside, I'm sorry, but it dies. I do not have patience to put it outside. It's punishment for even coming inside is death. I'm sorry to have offended anyone who disagrees with my logic.
So, when I went into Eli's room to comfort him from waking up from his nap...I found this spider perched on Eli's crib...on the crib skirt. That's when mommy attack mode kicked in. I promptly grabbed one of Eli's books and swatted and slapped the spider silly. I almost felt sorry for it. I did not take a picture of it because when all was said and done, he was pretty much unidentifiable. :) Meanwhile, poor Eli was still crying in his crib probably thinking 'why haven't you picked me up yet??' oh, I'm still nauseated with the thought that this spider was even close to my little boy!!
Tis the season. When the weather gets warmer, that's when the spidies like to come out and play. Happy hunting :)

i'm getting goose bumps just picturing it..yuck! good for you for showing him who's boss!
oh my gosh Jaymie, same scene today in my living room - me throwing the couch back and chasing the spider away from Simon while squealing and swatting a large object...totally get your logic and glad you dealt with him! Nice photo by the way!!
oh! so I can't take credit for the photo (I found it online :) but I had to put a photo of the kind of spider that it was... to the best of my ability anyway, and it was the size of my palm...no joke.
I can't believe it looked like that! I've never seen a spider that big & hairy before! It's giving me chills just looking at it!
oh my word!
we had a spider just like that in our shower yesterday... i felt like i was killing a small animal, it was so huge and hairy! i can't imagine how i would have felt if i had found it on evan's crib! glad you found it when you did, jaymie!
that thing is gross - haven't found any crazy ones like that in my place yet - fortunately.
